What a Mental Health Treatment Plan is

A Mental Health Treatment Plan is the document your GP or usual medical practitioner prepares if they assess that you’re eligible for Better Access support. It is what allows you to access Medicare rebates for sessions with eligible mental health professionals, including accredited mental health social workers.

How it works in practice

  1. Book with your GP or usual medical practitioner
  2. Ask to discuss your mental health and whether a Mental Health Treatment Plan is appropriate
  3. If they agree it fits, they prepare the plan and referral
  4. You then contact The Kind Mind to check fit, availability, and next steps

Can therapy be done by telehealth?

Yes. Medicare-supported telehealth mental health services are available Australia-wide where clinically appropriate. That means you do not need to live in the same city as Broady to work together.
